Some of the biggest names in film gathered at London’s Royal Albert Hall Sunday night for the annual and highly prestigious British Academy Film Awards.
The ceremony was hosted by Joanna Lumley for the second consecutive year, and amongst the night’s big winners was a star-studded red carpet filled with designer outfits and lavish jewellery. And as ever, we’ve compiled a list with some of the best dressed celebs from the evening.
Prince William and Kate Middleton
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge blessed the already star-studded red carpet in equally stylish ensembles. Prince William opted for a classic black suit with velvet jacket, bow tie and white pocket square. Meanwhile, Kate stunned in a white one-shouldered taffeta gown. She styled her outfit with a pair of diamond-drop earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana and silver Jimmy Choo ‘Romy in Viola’ glitter shoes, which alone cost £495.
Mary Queen of Scots star Margot Robbie turned heads in this unique look, and we’re totally here for it. Her dress featured black winged sleeves and a matching fishtail skirt. The main body of her dress included thousands of glistening jewels, a perfect contrast to her hair, which was styled up in a slick and minimal aesthetic.
Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek was not afraid to shy away from tradition as he sported a matching, all-white trouser and suit jacket combination. He layered a black shirt and bow tie underneath, creating an effortless contrast.
Actress Olivia Colman oozed sophistication in this monochrome gown on the red carpet. The ensemble included flared sleeves and skirt train. She completed her look with a black clutch bag.
Beautiful Boy actor and Best Supporting Actor nominee Timothée Chalamet impressed onlookers in this creative look. He wore an intricate print on his suit jacket and paired it with a set of trousers that featured a red stripe down the outer legs. He finished the outfit with a set of shiny black boots.
We couldn’t not include actress Thandie Newton as she turned heads (for all the right reasons) in an all-black strapless gown, which featured a white checked pattern design. She styled her hair straight and slicked back to show off her silver earrings, which complinented the look perfectly.
The BAFTAs are often a good indicator of who will go on to win big at the Oscars in just a few weeks time, which of course we will be covering!
