BAFTA AWARDS 2020: Our Favourite Red Carpet Looks

The 73rd British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAS) took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London this evening, to honour excellence in both British and international film over the past year.

With some of the worlds biggest stars in attendance, Team Fuzz had our eyes firmly fixed on on the red carpet ahead of the royal ceremony, to get a sartorial glimpse at what some of our most favourite actors and actresses were wearing.

BAFTA 2020: Fashion with a Conscience

In the run of to this years awards, BAFTA organisers announced plans to introduce a brand new dress code for guests attending the event to follow, as part of a wider attempt to reduce its awards ceremony’s carbon footprint.

In a guide created by the London College of Fashion, attendees on the night were asked and encouraged, to consider re-wearing an outfit they already own, to rent an ensemble for the evening, to go vintage or to choose any other more sustainable option.

“Sustainability is very important to BAFTA, and we’re doing more than ever before.” a BAFTA spokesperson said in a statement via Harpers Bazaar ahead of this years ceremony. “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.”

Check out some of our favourite looks from the 2020 BAFTA red carpet:

Emilia Clarke

Looking ultra chic in this slimline black Schiaparelli dress, with its low-cut neckline and adorned with sparkly sequins, British actress Emilia Clarke wowed on the BAFTA red carpet this evening, completing her effortlessly sophisticated look with a pair of black (killer) heeled stilettos.

Kate Middleton

Wearing Alexander McQueen, the Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning as she arrived at the Royal Albert Hall on the arm of husband, Prince William.

Accessorised with a Van Cleef & Arpels Mother of Pearl necklace and matching earrings, an Anya Hindmarch clutch and Jimmy Choo pumps, in keeping with this years BAFTA dress code, this is the second time Kate has sported this look, having previously worn the vintage McQueen gown to an official dinner hosted by Malaysia’s Head of State back in September 2012.

Joe Alwyn

Mixing it up in Dior, Harriet star Joe Alwyn rocked this simple yet classic black and navy ensemble putting a fresh spin of the more traditional mens red carpet look.

Renée Zellweger

BAFTA Best Actress winner Renée Zellweger looked the definition of elegance in this soft pink, satin off-the-shoulder column dress by Prada. Teamed with simple gold jewellery and her hair in a sleek up-do, Zellweger channelled her inner Hollywood goddess to great effect.

Daisy Ridley

Sweeping down the red carpet in this dramatic strapless green dress, complete with featured one-shouldered pleated sheer cape by Oscar de la Renta, Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley wore light makeup, with a lick of eye shadow and her dark rich brunette hair tied neatly in bun, to showcase one of the evenings most fashion-forward looks.

Jodie Turner-Smith

Looking every inch the movie star, British model and actress Jodie Turner-Smith was one of the few stars to bring a pop of colour to BAFTA the red carpet in this bright yellow, sequin Gucci dress complete with black bow detail at the back. Looking more radiant than ever, the soon to be new Mum provided us with a real fashion moment.
