Fuzzable Talks Fashion… with Charlotte Devaney!

Formidable British entertainer Charlotte Devaney has had quite the varied, and extraordinary career since she first burst onto the scene over a decade ago!

With her natural talent, epic sense of style and innate flair for all aspects of performing, Charlotte has worked tirelessly to establish herself as one of the most unique and multifaceted artists on the electronic underground.

A headline DJ, a platinum-selling recording artist, radio host, record label owner, animal rights campaigner, video director AND Hollywood actress… there is simply nothing this woman cannot do!

Most recently Charlotte starred in the film United Nation: Three Decades of Drum and Bass – a documentary telling the story of the originations and subsequent evolution of the RAVE! and Drum & Bass scene in the U.K. by those who helped pioneer the musical genre to the mighty juggernaut that it is today!

We caught up with the super talented, and uber stylish Charlotte to talk FASHION, BEAUTY, STYLE INSPO and BODY CONFIDENCE!

You have such a cool, individual sense of style – is fashion something you enjoy indulging in, and experimenting with?
I love fashion! Bright colours, crazy patterns, mixed fabrics… the bolder the better really! I get excited when I find new and different designers and crazy stuff to wear!

How would you describe your own personal style?
Crazy, bright and bold… with a hint of sexy!

Do you have a favourite red carpet look of yours from over the years?
I do love wearing a bit of leopard print on the red carpet, and most recently I wore a leopard print catsuit at The United Nation: Three Decades of Drum & Bass premiere in London.

Where do you get your style inspiration from?
I would say my style is pretty unique to me really, I’m drawn to bright colours and crazy patterns and put everything together myself. I’ve had stylists in the past but these days I style everything myself including all of my looks for videos and photoshoots.

Is there a particular era of fashion that you love / wish you’d been a part of?
I love the late 80s / early 90s acid house era – I love the nutty styles they rocked at all the early acid house raves such as sunrise, energy and rage!

What three things do you ALWAYS carry with you in your handbag?
My phone (I’m a phone junkie), lip balm and always a packet of nuts for energy!

Can you tell us one of your secret make up tips?
I think the first thing to keep your make up looking flawless is a good night’s sleep, the difference in my face when i haven’t slept properly is huge! Aside from that I’d say eyeliner on the bottom and top insides of the eyes to make them look bigger!

Who is your all-time style hero?
Madonna! She has changed her style so many times over the years – she’s iconic!

Which celebrity’s wardrobe would you love to have free reign of?
I think Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga! Both their styles are next level, they’ve had so many amazing looks over the years… all bright and a massive bit of me!

You’ve had an incredible career as a dancer – did you feel a lot of pressure to keep in shape and look a certain way during that time?
The dancing and modelling industry does add a lot of pressure on girls to stay slim and look a certain way, so yes I felt immense pressure when I was a part of that world. I’m definitely happier now I’m an artist – I can be free and be who I want be!

What advice would you give to anybody not feeling so confident about themselves and the way they look?
I’d say it is harder than ever to be yourself when there is so much pressure to follow the crowd, and to do what’s cool or what’s hot, but you won’t ever be truly happy until you learn to love yourself and be yourself soooooo… be proud of being you, because everyone else is taken!Â

What can we expect from Charlotte Devaney in 2020?
Expect lots of new music, more crazy videos and more of Charlotte being Charlotte!
