In the month of May this year, Former First Lady Michelle Obama released her documentary “Becoming” on Netflix. The documentary centered around her book tour and gave an insight into her life as she was preparing with Former President Barack Obama for the presidential campaign, her journey as a Black woman growing up and living in the United States of America, and her connection with her family and community.
Now, the author of the memoir is returning on Spotify with her first podcast. Last year, Higher Ground Productions, a production company by the Obamas signed a deal with Spotify which hinted towards a possible podcast release. Titled “The Michelle Obama Podcast”, the first episode will debut on July 29th.
The first season of the podcast will focus on her conversation with her family, friends, and colleagues wherein she will be talking about relationships, friendships, support from colleagues and mentors, and will also touch upon several other topics that need discussion.
This season will also see several guests participating including Marian and Craig Robinson, Obama’s mother, and brother; late-night host Conan O’Brien; top Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett; journalist Michele Norris; and Dr. Sharon Malone, who is married to former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder, as reported by Forbes.
The announcement was accompanied by a teaser video which the Former First Lady posted on her Twitter account. The caption stated,
“It’s been a tough year and I hope this podcast can help us explore what we’re going through and spark new conversations with our loved ones”.
