Fuzzmas Advent Awards – Day Twenty Six

Welcome to the Fuzzmas Advent Awards, a series running every day throughout December celebrating all our favourite things from 2018. Today we’re counting down our top five Celebrity Fashion Moments from the past year.

5. Harry Styles for Gucci

Everyone’s favourite One Direction member hit the headlines back in September with the release of his campaign with Gucci. He travelled to Rome’s Villa Lante to shoot for the Men’s Tailoring Cruise 2019 campaign.

The singer-songwriter and actor models with a lamb, kid and piglet in the stylized gardens of the villa built in late Renaissance. Mixing pattern, colour, patches and unusual proportions, the tailoring collection contrasts against the villa’s cascades, fountains, sculptures and grottoes.

4. Lady Gaga at ELLE’s Women in Hollywood

Next is Lady Gaga’s iconic attire for ELLE’s Women in Hollywood event in October. The look was an oversized Marc Jacobs suit from the designer’s Spring 2019 runway collection.

During her Women in Hollywood acceptance speech, the singer/actress spoke on the significance of her outfit for the occasion: “This was an oversized men’s suit made for a woman. Not a gown. And then I began to cry. In this suit, I felt like me today.”

3. Celebrities Wearing Black at the Golden Globes

The red carpet at the 75th Golden Globes was dominated by the colour black as celebrities walked it in support of the #MeToo and Times Up movement.

Many celebs were also wearing lapel pins and badges in favour of Time’s Up and 50:50, campaigns which focus on fighting sexual harassment and gender inequality in the entertainment industry.

2. Blake Lively at the MET Gala

Blake Lively’s MET Gala look sent the internet into meltdown earlier in the year. She wore a ruby and gold Versace gown that perfectly embodied the theme, ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’.

The dress took a grand total of 600 hours to create and is complete $2 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. This included gold bracelets, three diamond and ruby rings and a 30-carat emerald and diamond earrings. And if that wasn’t enough, she also had on a custom halo headpiece that featured 100 carats of champagne diamonds.

1. Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding Dress

The Royal Wedding back in May was, without a doubt, the biggest event of the year. And Megan Markle’s wedding dress was the most hyped aspect in the months leading up to the big day… and it did not dissapoint!

The minimalist pure white gown had a boat neck and three-quarter length sleeves. In addition to this, the bride’s veil was embroidered with flowers representing the countries of the Commonwealth, the California poppy, in honour of Meghan Markle’s home state of California, and wintersweet, a flower that grows at Kensington Palace.

It was designed by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller, who also happens to be the artistic director of the fashion house Givenchy. Megan chose to work closely with her on the design because of her “timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour”.

Throughout December we will be running our advent awards, so check back daily to find out what we’re celebrating this Fuzzmas.
