There is no doubt that TikTok is the app of the moment. Whilst it has been growing in popularity for a long time, it’s safe to say that whilst the world has been in lockdown, the short video app has gained a whole new audience in recent weeks.
Best known for its dance videos, TikTok also plays host to a number of different trends and challenges which have taken the platform by storm. So much so, even our favourite celebrities have been getting involved!
We’ve rounded up five TikTok trends that we’re currently obsessed with, featuring our fave popstars and influencers!
Hit every beat
If you’re a fan of the Macarena and MC Hammer’s ‘You Can’t Touch This’ then, like us, you probably love the ‘Ht every beat’ challenge on TikTok. Check out Lizzo and pals absolutely nailing it below!
@lizzo POV ur at a pool party and one crazy bitch forces everyone into her TikTok
Bored in the house
Boredom has probably hit you at least a couple of times during this current period of isolation, and it can indeed leave you feeling frustrated. The Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts’ TikTok video is an accurate representation of all the stages we’ve been through at home over the past few weeks!
@iamashleyroberts Ok I’m bored in da H O U S E #asholation #bored #imbored #boredathome #fyp #foryoupage
Big nose
The big nose filter is one of our favourite things on TikTok right now, with users recreating familiar scenes from their childhood involving their parents. Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall absolutely nails the trauma of kicking your football into your neighbour’s garden one too many times, with disastrous consequences…
@jadethirlwall ffs earnest ????⚽️ #mummy #foryou #foryoupage #fyp
Your last move is their first move
The ‘Your last move is the first move’ challenge is perfect for anyone who is currently isolating with their family or friends. The rules are simple – perform two dance moves, the latter of which will then be the first dance move of the second person. It’s a great challenge for two people, and even more fun if you get the whole family involved! Check out Saffron Barker and her parents’ attempt below, but try not to injure yourself like her poor father!
@thebarkers WATCH until the end!! ???? Straight up A&E after this one .. ???????? Go give Dazza a like for effort in this one .. @saffronbarker
Flip the switch
Finally, the flip the switch trend sees two people switching outfits and positions to Drake’s ‘Nonstop’. Check out the flip the switch trend in action below, executed perfectly by Love Island stars Siânnise Fudge and Luke Trotman.
