Books have a magical capability to transport you to different times and places. I’ve been obsessed with books ever since I can remember, but sometimes it can be difficult to pick out the good ones to read.
This week, I share five of my favorite books that you should definitely read!
Graceling
This book has everything – a strong female protagonist, a cute love story, interesting characters, adventure, you name it! In this world, people who are born with two different-colored eyes are “graced” with some sort of power. In Katsa’s case, it is killing. The book focuses on her struggle with her identity while investigating a kidnapping.
The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy
This series is essentially a better version of Twilight minus the vampires. Grace has always had a weird obsession with the wolves that live outside her house. One day, she finds out that these wolves aren’t just wolves at all. The series follows Grace and her werewolf boyfriend Sam while they struggle to keep him human and prevent other werewolf tragedies.
One More Thing
I’m usually not a huge fan of short stories, but this book completely changed my mind. The stories are witty, funny, sometimes cringey, and absolutely captivating. If you’ve ever seen The Office, you know how wonderful B.J. Novak is. This book is no different.
Hamlet
Hamlet is the best thing Shakespeare wrote. Hands-down. It is the most overdramatic, let’s-jump-to-conclusions story written. If reading plays really isn’t your thing, I’d highly recommend Kenneth Branagh’s movie version. The acting is incredible, and does the story justice in terms of bringing it to light. In this particular play, Hamlet goes out to revenge his father’s murder at the hands of his uncle.
Steal Like An Artist
This book is seriously life-changing. If you are creative in any way at all, I highly suggest buying it and keeping it on your shelf for a rainy day. Austin Kleon packed the book full of fantastic advice and humorous, quality content for any type of artist.
