Prepare to expect the unexpected because Big Brother is returning for a shortened, special celebrity season beginning Wednesday, February 7, 2018, on CBS.
Big Brother is a staple summertime reality television series in the U.S., with a celebrity variant in the U.K. However, the celebrity version has just landed in America and is ready to shake things up. Airing for just over two weeks, the season will throw 11 celebrity competitors into seclusion until only one remains. CBS’ website notes that 87 HD cameras and more than 100 microphones are in place, so it’s safe to say we won’t be missing any of the celebrity action.
Like regular Big Brother, the houseguests will compete in head of household and veto competitions, and Julie Chen is returning as the season’s host. This season is also coinciding with the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, whose opening ceremony is only two days after Big Brother‘s premiere.
When discussing the Olympics, Julie Chen told the New York Post, “Can you imagine while the Olympics are running the figure skating competition [that] we have our classic Big Brother Slip ‘n Slide competition with celebrities? Who’s turning away from us? Not me!”
Celebrity Big Brother’s cast list is as follows:
- Ariadna Gutiérrez
- Brandi Lynn Glanville
- Chuck Liddell
- James Maslow
- Keshia Knight Pulliam
- Marissa Jaret Winokur
- Mark McGrath
- Metta World Peace
- Omarosa
- Ross Mathews
- Shannon Elizabeth
This batch of houseguests is bound to be explosive. Brandi Granville competed on Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K. in 2017, so she knows the game. James Maslow hails from Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush. Omarosa has appeared on numerous series, including The Apprentice, and just recently left the White House after working for a year as the Director of Communications for the Office of Public Liaison. With a myriad of personalities coming together, sparks are bound to fly.
