Britney Spears Announced As New Face Of Kenzo

Britney Spears was today announced as the new face of luxury French-Japanese clothing brand Kenzo (March 20th).

At the request of Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, Spears will front the French fashion houses latest ad campaign, La Collection Memento N°2.

The campaign, shot in Paris by legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh, showcases a collection that is big on denim, tigers and The Great Wave off Kanagawa – a nod to Kenzo’s Japanese roots.

Wearing three different outfits, a cropped sweater, matching print set and a full denim look comprised of a jacket, hat, and over-the-knee boots, Spears looks confident, sexy and in total control.

“We had fun on set.” Britney said in an exclusive interview with Vogue Magazine.

“It was a bit weird for me at first, I am used to shooting in a studio or a small space, and this was on the street. We were out there and I had really promiscuous clothes on, which felt odd, but, of course, on film it turned out to be really cool.”

“When we were designing the collection, I was like, ‘If I can have a dream person, who would I want to be in denim? It has to be Britney.’ Britney is the queen of denim to me.” Humberto Leon said in a statement today.

“Britney Spears is an icon. She’s up there with Michael (Jackson) and Madonna. Growing up, she is also synonymous with denim with me. When her and Justin came out in their denim outfits, that is like an iconic look.”

“It’s really interesting because you think about her career, she could have been attached to so many brands. She could have been the fashion of thousands of them, but she hasn’t. This is the first time she’s actually entering this foray, which I think is super cool and an honor for it to be Kenzo.”
