Fuzzable Blogs: March 21 – A Few of My Favorite Things

Hello! It’s hard to believe that March is almost over. It felt like yesterday was January. If you read my last blog post, you know that I am graduating college soon. To try to distract me from the impending doom of being an adult, I’ve been finding a lot of different stuff to love. So, here’s a few of my favorite things that I’ve been loving recently.

Eat Up! by Ruby Tandoh

We just finished @RubyTandoh’s amazing Eat Up! published by @serpentstail earlier this year. It didn’t take much for us to be convinced by Ruby’s wholesome attitude towards food (eat what you love, when you like; treat yourself in moderation). But what makes this book special is Ruby’s innovative approach to food writing: mixing recipes, personal memories and cultural analysis to wax lyrical about what’s cooking. Not only does Ruby write beautifully about the bites which makes us fall in love with food, she’s also mindful about the ways in which race and class affect our diets and explores these intersections in informative detail. Eat Up! is so much more than a treatise to indulge yourself: it’s an ode to what food can mean to people. This is a book which is truly nourishing. #litchat

I’m only halfway through this book, but it is so good! It is absolutely delightful, and incredibly well-written. I love Ruby’s conversational tone. Additionally, it has made me fall back in love with eating and food. If you are even remotely interested in food/cooking/diet culture, this is a must read!

The Last Jedi

I have not stopped thinking about this movie since it came out in December. I am so ridiculously into it, and I’m so excited to watch it on a non-stop loop now that it’s out on DVD/streaming.

Night Time, My Time by Sky Ferreira

I have recently discovered this album, and it is great. It’s very much up my alley in terms of genre and music style. It’s full of bops that are bound to get you dancing.

Jessica Jones

The second season of Jessica Jones came out a couple weeks ago, and I forgot how excellent this show is. It is witty and woke, my favorite combination. I’m usually not into superheroes, but Jessica Jones isn’t exactly your stereotypical superhero. She’s better.

Breakfast burritos

Anyone who is not from New Mexico does not understand the joy of a New Mexican breakfast burrito. My absolute favorite is from Frontier. The gooey cheese melting over spicy green chile and crisp hash browns with some fluffy scrambled eggs? My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Thanks for reading about some of my favorite things! I’m curious – what have you been loving lately?
