X Thuyle x Lottie London – Worth it?

X Thuyle is one of the beauty babes whose success is skyrocketing. She’s amassed over 1.1 million YouTube subscribers and has become the big sister to all her subs. She’s known for her larger than life personality, love of all things fabulous and beautiful and is one of the most incredible creative artists around. Lottie London is the drugstore brand who’ve brought a whole host of fun into the beauty industry and creates the shimmer squad highlighter quad that pretty much every UK beauty influencer is obsessed with. When you mix the two powerhouses together you get the Lottie London x X Thuyle collection.

The collection features 3 of Lottie Londons cult classic glitter switch lipsticks, but in 3 high glamour shades created by X Thuyle, a glitter dip (multi-purpose golden glitter pomade) and an eyeshadow pallet. Prices start at £3.96 for the range in Superdrug, and today we’re putting the ‘Living my best life’ eyeshadow pallet to the test.

Our first impression.

Starting with the packaging, our first initial view and perception of this pallet – it’s a dark red and clear plastic casing but not the usual drugstore flimsy plastic. This feels sturdy and strong. The clear side is almost like a window, showing you the magic inside. The only slight thing we’d of loved to of seen on the packaging is a mirror, however, this is a minor issue.

The colour selection and story is incredible. There are 14 shades in the pallet, 7 mattes and 7 shimmers, but the genius is that within 14 shades you have everything. From your bold warm tones to calmer cool tones. The shimmers are in a rainbow, with everything from a yellow gold to a dark blue, a pink and cranberry. The mattes have the perfect selection of everything, bright orange tones, a black, a bone colour and beyond. This pallet truly feels like it could be the one pallet you need to create any look with ease.

Usage.

We decided to swatch each shade before using and were amazed by the results. Although we totally understand that swatched do not show exactly how a shadow would perform, we were amazed at the extreme pigmentation. The shimmers were on another level, one touch one swipe full opacity.

We decided to try the bronzey shades in the pallet and create a warm toned look. We found the mattes gave us the perfect blending materials and as for the shimmers – WOW! We didn’t apply any fixing spray or primer to the shimmers and they packed on perfectly. No flaking, or crumbling. We used just our usual Blank Canvass E44 flat brush to apply, and it was perfect almost instantly. We’re in love.

Throughout the day we had zero fall down, and max opacity for 12 hours, and at that time when we needed to remove our makeup, the shadows came off with total ease – no staining or issues at all.

Overall thoughts.

This is possibly our favourite pallet of the year. Everything has been so carefully thought out by XThuyle and Lottie London perfectly. The formula is that of the high-end pallets, but at a super affordable price point. There are shades to create everything from a natural wash of colour to the bold dramatic smokey eye and every bold and bright colour in between. The formula has been nailed, pigmented, long-lasting and creamy! The only thing we’d maybe add is a mirror, but that’s just so we’d never travel without any other pallet again.

Pick up the X Thuyle ‘Living my best life’ pallet now at Superdrug.
