Chanel Joan Elkayam debuted her first collection at the age of 16 in 2014, at Manchester Fashion Week. She is the youngest designer to showcase at all four of the major fashion shows.
Flashforward to now, 2019 we had the privilege of attending her show at London Fashion Week earlier this week. And what a show it was.
It was a show like none other we’ve ever been to and we loved every second. Full of inclusivity, Chanel Joan Elkayam is big on featuring as many different types of models as she can in her shows, as it showcases that her collections are for everyone.
The show was opened by Munroe Bergdorf, highlighting strongly the message of the “Untitled”Collection.
“An independent woman with a sovereign mind who believes in the empowerment of women. She is a feminine, seductive leader who is at the same time opulent and chic. She is fearless and unstoppable. She is also powerful and comfortable in her own body.”
Followed by Kate Grant, Northern Ireland’s first model with Down Syndrome. When Kate made her entrance, the whole energy of the show shifted. It became electric.
The models walked to the sounds of Benedict Cork accompanying them on the piano with live vocals.
The whole show was simply stunning. Some of the looks were breathtaking and really showcases Chanel’s passion for the little details within her designs.
When not creating looks for the catwalk Chanel is studying at the prestigious Central St Martins School for a BA in Womenswear. Her dedication to continue her studies despite already showing collections at Fashion Weeks worldwide. Her passion for the industry she works in, her desire to help make that industry as inclusive and accessible for all and her flair for design and aesthetic details of the clothes she creates are just many reasons we love Chanel Joan Elkayam at Fuzzable.
