Fuzzable Blogs: September 2nd- What to take to university

It’s official, I’m finally starting university this month.

For weeks I’ve been compiling lists, visiting many shops, and deciding wether to buy the green oven gloves or the pink ones.

For my blog this month, I’ve crafted my (hopefully) final list of everything I’ll be dragging along with me down the motorway!

Bedroom

Wether you’re in a studio apartment, halls, or privately rented accommodation, you’ll definitely be wanting to kit out your own bedroom. Try to choose a colour scheme and stick to it. Lighter colours can be beneficial, as they will help typically tiny uni rooms feel more spacious!

Ideas:

  • Duvet
  • Duvet cover and pillows
  • Cushions
  • Fitted sheet
  • Blanket
  • Mattress protector
  • Bin
  • Lamp (check if yours is included or not)
  • Door stop- encourages interactions with your flat mates!
  • Coat hangers
  • Alarm clock
  • Decor- some ideas I love are fairy lights, posters and polaroid photo strings

Kitchen

For many young people, the first time they’ll really have to fend for themselves in the kitchen is when they start university. Make sure you’re prepared and ahead of the game with everything you need.

Ideas:

  • Saucepans
  • Frying pan
  • Cutlery
  • Crockery- plates, bowls, etc
  • Knives
  • Chopping boards
  • Peeler
  • Pizza wheel
  • Heatproof tongs
  • Cheese grater
  • Colander
  • Tin opener
  • Baking tray
  • Mugs
  • Bottle opener
  • Lunchbox
  • Waterbottle
  • Glasses
  • Oven gloves
  • Tea towels
  • Tupperware containers
  • Toaster (check if yours is included or not)
  • Kettle (check if yours is included or not)

Bathroom

This ideas list may differ depending on your type of accommodation. If your room is non-ensuite, you may find your university includes some of these items, but it’s always best to check!

Ideas:

  • Bin
  • Toilet brush
  • Shower mat
  • Laundry basket
  • Shower caddy
  • Shower curtain
  • Towels
  • First aid kit
  • Toiletries

There are sure to be other items you’ll want at university with you, including clothes(!) and electrical items, but this is my basic list to help get you started! Enjoy!
