There are many vanity organizers and cosmetic trays available for purchase, but these are really not necessities unless you really don’t have a cupboard or mirror with shelving on the inside. The basics you’ll need for your bathroom are toiletries like toilet paper, soap (hand and body), shower curtain and rings, body towels and hand towels, plunger, and cleaning sprays.
Bedroom Necessities
Don’t buy an entire matching bedroom set right off the bat; most of these sets are very expensive and you want to make sure you have enough room after essentials like your bed and dresser are put in. Bedroom basics include things like a bedside table, mattress and boxspring, bedding, and a dresser if you need more space than your closet.
Living Space
This is a great space to fill with those hand-me down arm chairs and sofa. If you can’t find any decent ones at a yardsale, lots of websites and warehouse stores have overstock that are marked down. For now, focus on the essentials and having space for when you have friends and family over like a couch, coffee table, armchair and a tv console if you have a tv.
Kitchen
Kitchens are spaces where you can end up dumping loads of money into, because of all the gadgets and appliances available. Ditch the crazy inventions and stick with the usual basics instead. Things that come in handy in a kitchen include: Silverware and glasses, 4-set dishware, cookie sheet, large pot, smaller pots that fit into each other, large frying pan, and microwave if it doesn’t already have one.
Remember, rental properties are temporary so it’s important to keep in mind that you’re not going to be there for a longer time than you would if you bought a home. Make it cozy and welcoming for you, but don’t waste money on things that you can get on for a short time without. It will pay off in the long run.
