You might’ve heard about a little movie called “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.” If you haven’t, please go watch it because it’s wonderful. In it, the main character Lara Jean writes a letter to each of her crushes. I got to thinking, and after a unanimous Twitter poll, decided I should write a letter to some of the people I’ve had a crush on. These are anonymous, with random letters representing their names, and clearly written from my current perspective, even though in the movie, Lara Jean wrote her letters in the midst of her feelings. I hope you enjoy!
To my 8th grade crush:
DEAR M,
I’m not too sure if you ever actually liked me. One of my friends convinced me that you did. Somehow I still liked you after an unfortunate snot incident, which is surprising seeing as I hate snot. You seemed like a pretty decent person, and I hope you’re doing well.
Best, Sarah
To my 7th grade crush:
DEAR D,
You had floppy, Zac-Efron-in-high-school-musical hair, and I fell head over heels for it. I’m pretty sure everyone had a crush on you because you were just ~that guy~. You turned into a jock, but alas. One time you sat in my seat to talk to your friend, and I got so excited that our butts would occupy the same space. I’m pretty sure me coming over and saying “excuse me” was the extent of any interaction we had. Sorry if I stared at you too much in class.
Best, Sarah
To my brief crush last summer:
DEAR L,
I really wanted to like you. You seemed so similar to me, and I still think we are. However, you high-key ghosting me during the middle of a conversation was not cool. I clearly deserved (and still deserve) better. Also, I can’t believe you couldn’t stay awake during the movie we went to go see. Come on. You were very nice, but definitely were not for me. I hope you make someone else happy.
Best, Sarah
To my 9th grade crush:
DEAR R,
Of all the people I’ve written letters to, I think you just might be the worst. You were kind of pretty, but apparently were only with your girlfriend to make my best friend jealous. I’m not too sure why I liked you in the first place. My 14-year-old heart was very happy when we matched on Tinder. Fortunately, Tinder matches is all that we’ll ever be.
Best, Sarah
To my brief crush sophomore year of college:
DEAR V,
You were so pretty. And paid attention to me. And I ate it up. Even though I’m pretty sure you paid that much attention to everyone. It was not meant to be.
Best, Sarah
PS – Sorry I talked to you about camel toes during our 3rd conversation. Not my best moment.
To my first crush:
DEAR M,
I knew I loved you from the second you flew onscreen as Peter Pan. All I longed for was to be the Wendy you were looking for. What a good time. You were an excellent actor, by the way.
Best, Sarah
