Welcome to Fuzzable’s Daily Joy, where we bring you a little bit of sunshine on even the gloomiest of days.
Today’s Daily Joy comes courtesy of Jonathan and Drew Scott, better known as HGTV’s Property Brothers. They’ve single-handedly turned the network into your favorite auntie’s favorite channel. And boy, do they love their open concept!
But they don’t just have a television show: the Canadian cuties have a line of furniture, a comedy show in the works (that will probably be NSFW), a new luxury design firm called Casaza, and they’ve even hit the Billboard charts with a country song!
Now, the Scott brothers have released a new children’s book called Builder Brothers, and it’s already hit #1 on Amazon in the Children’s Art Books section.
Turns out that the children love the Scott brothers as much as their parents do, and it was quite evident at the Builder Brothers book-signing event in Clifton, NJ.
The brothers kicked off the event by taking hard-hitting questions from the precocious tykes.
Tyke #1: “Drew, do you like tacos?”
Drew: “Who doesn’t?!”
Tyke #2: “Jonathan, will you marry me?”
Jonathan: “I get that question a lot…”
America’s future journalists have asked the questions we all want the answers to, guys. Somebody nominate them for Pulitzers!
They then had a Romper Room-style read-along for Builder Brothers, and the kids participated by making appropriate builder and animal effects, to the delight of both the brothers and the parents.
The premise of the book is a pretty straightforward one, and one that Drew and Jonathan say was based on experiences they had in their own childhood: the kid versions of the Property Brothers (!) decide to build a dog house for the puppy versions of Gracie and Stewie, Jonathan’s two IRL fur-babies (!!). But oh, woe is them, for the dimensions for the dog house are too small for even Gracie and Stewie (who are a chihuahua and a Yorkie, respectively)! Alas, all’s well that ends well, and the Brothers decide to turn the tiny dog house into a birdhouse instead.
The book even includes a DIY project that you and your favourite child-person can do with just a few household items around the house!
After the read-along, Jonathan and Drew stayed to autograph every single book for every single kid — and adult! — in attendance.
And if you want to know how it all went, peep the pure joy on Jonathan’s face as he signs books for his adoring fans. Squee!
