Whether you prefer a slab of plain chocolate, or you’re an aficionado who refuses anything below 80 percent, or a pure milk chocolate bar lover or someone who indulges in a bit of less melting and more crunch, it’s safe to say that a lot of us would class ourselves as chocoholics.

A recent study conducted by Leisure, UK, has analyzed the world’s favorite chocolate bar in each nation using global search volumes. With so many chocolates around the world to choose from, which bars are the most popular across the globe? While everyone has their go-to sweet treat, we’ve looked at the chocolate bars that each country is searching for the most.

Taking the title for the most popular chocolate bar in the world, Cadbury Dairy Milk makes it to the top of the list. It is the most searched for chocolate bar in 78 countries including India, the United Arab Emirates, and South Africa, with a global annual search volume of, on average, 466,680 hashtags, according to Google search data.

In second place is the Mars Bar, which, although has a higher global annual search volume, 816,840 hashtags, is the most searched for chocolate bar in 50 countries, emerging as the favorite chocolate bar for the places including the United Kingdom, United States, and Switzerland. In the UK itself, it was revealed that the chocolate received a monthly search volume of 13,400, placing itself as a clear favorite amongst Brits and beating other favorites such as Lindt chocolate truffles, Ferrero, Kinder Bueno, and Galaxy salted caramel.

Combined, these two brands account for 167 countries with Mars Bar being the favorite for 50 countries, and Cadbury’s chocolate (of the various form) being the favorite for an incredible 117 countries.

Both chocolate giants were founded in Britain: Cadbury in 1824 in Birmingham, and the Mars Bar in 1932 in Slough, proving that the United Kingdom really does know how to make some incredible chocolate.

Other countries’ favorite chocolate bars that made to the list include Tony’s Chocolonely Milk Chocolate, Cadbury Caramilk, Lindt Excellence Bar, Cadbury Bournville, Cadbury Crunchie, Cadbury 5 star, Lindt Lindor Bar and Cadbury Flake (ranked in order: 3-10). As well as taking the top spot with the classic Dairy Milk, Cadbury’s chocolates appear five times in the top ten most popular chocolates. Cadbury Caramilk is the favorite for 10 countries, including Australia and New Zealand, and both Cadbury’s Bournville and Crunchie are favorites for eight countries.

We all have our own personal go-to chocolate brands that we love to indulge in when we’re craving a sweet treat. While some of us are loyal to our favorite brands, many of us want to try out new flavors and brands available across the globe, which is why it is fascinating to have a wide array of choices out there.

Though it is still interesting to see that some of the more plain chocolate bars like evergreen Cadbury Dairy Milk and Tony’s Chocolonely Bar have made to the top five most popular chocolate bars, which reflects that when it comes down to it, no matter where you’re from, it seems we’re all just looking for some great quality chocolate.
