Fuzzable has decided to go deeper into the gaming world. As technology and media have shown progress, Gaming has become a bigger and more talked-about medium. We have decided that every month, we shall choose a game that we have loved playing; while you, our readers can share what game have you been playing and what would you want us to play for our next installment. Players! Welcome to “The Gaming Lounge”, where our first installment is Telltale Games “The Wolf Among Us”.
“The Wolf Among Us” is another fabulous and unique gaming experience by Telltale Games, based on a very successful ”Fables” comics, written by Bill Willingham. The player takes on the role as Sheriff Bigby Wolf voiced by the impeccable Adam Harrington, as he solves one of the biggest and most gruesome murders in the history of the fictional fairytale ”Fabletown“.
Fabletown is located in 1980s Manhattan. In order to keep the identities of the Fairytale’s creatures a secret from native humans known as Mundees, the residents of the fantasy town must have purchased a glamour to make them look human to protect themselves and the fellow citizens.
The main story of the game follows Sheriff Bigby (formerly known as the Big Bad Wolf) as he attempts to solve a massive murder mystery with the aid of deputy mayor of Fabletown Snow White (voiced by Erin Yvette) after a head is found left on his doorstep.
Like all Telltale Games, the player is supposed to follow the game’s “choice-based” gameplay, this will shape Bigby as a character, how he solves the case and how the other characters see him. Obviously with the past of being the Big Bad Wolf; Bigby is not well trusted or liked by the citizens of Fabletown, so does the player want Bigby to be a changed man, or ruthless like the fairytales tell us?
All the characters are interesting in their own way, players feel somewhat nostalgic to see some of the most well-known fairytale characters such as Beauty & The Beast, The Woodsman and The Little Mermaid.
The choice-based gameplay offers a unique and thought-provoking experience to our players as well as having some fantastic action sequences as the story unfolds. With the game having so many options and different choices within the story, every consequence of each choice is different making the game more and more replayable.
So overall “The Wolf Among Us” is a dark yet fun and fascinating story that keeps the player hooked, with its dark tone, intriguing characters and an unusual twist on some of our most well-loved fairytale characters: this game is truly a marvel and a joy to play!
