Book Review – Right Here Waiting For You By Rebecca Pugh

We used to be best friends…

Magda used to be the girl everyone wanted to be – most likely to achieve her every wish. That is until suddenly her perfect life seems to be anything but!

Sophia has never regretted her life, sure it isn’t perfect, but being a single mum to a daughter she loves is pretty great. Perhaps she never moved away from home, or got to live out her dreams, but what she has right now isn’t so bad.

That is until an invitation to their school reunion arrives, throwing both their lives into a spin – because these two used to be friends and it might finally be time to face up to that one big mistake that happened all those years ago…

Right Here Waiting For You is a captivating story that grips you from the very first page (which was one of the most surprising and amusing openings I’ve ever read!), surrounded by betrayal, family, secrets, love and fresh starts. The book focuses on best friends, Magda and Sophia. Well, they were bet friends in their teenage years at least…

After Magda lost her mother and her father became distant, she did something that she will forever regret… Betray her best friend.

Magda and Sophia thought that they would forever be the best of friends; they had everything planned out to the point in which they would fall pregnant at the same time. However, things don’t always go as anticipated and as the years went on, their lives seemed to revolve around everything but each other. Years later, both girls recieve an invitation to attend their schools reunion, filling both with anticipation and mostly dread.

I was so hooked on this book from start to finish, all the characters were so wonderful to create in my mind and I found myself constantly rooting for a happy ending. Magda and Sophia are such down-to-earth characters, you can’t not love either of them. I became completely intrigued by their stories, Magda came back not only for the school reunion but also a reunion with her father and seeing that father-daughter bond go from nothing to everything was so heart-warming. I also loved seeing the friendship between Sophia and Michael and all they went through together.

We all go through break-ups with friends and this story makes you realise just how much you need to appreciate and love your friends now, as they might not be in your life later on. Another thing Rebecca did to keep you hooked was include flashbacks of the girls as teenagers, it really made you wonder how two best friends completely attached to the hip could become strangers!

Rebecca has such a beautiful way with words and her writing is easy on the eyes… Meaning you’ll have finished her books before you even know it, because you just can’t stop reading!

I would highly recommend ‘Right Here Waiting For You’ to all readers who love a good Chick Lit.
