With the summer just around the corner, the chances are that you’re planning a last-minute getaway with your loved ones, either at home or in another country.
Whether you’re off with friends or family, it’s important to look your best, not only to feel good about yourself but to get into the vacation spirit and relax in a new city, immersing yourself into its culture.
Below, we’ve put together things you need to pack if you want your vacation to go off with a bang…
Versatile clothing
If you’re travelling by plane, then you’re probably going to be limited on space. Most airlines charge a fortune for extra kilos, so make sure you pack light and choose clothing that can be worn more than once.
We recommend versatile pieces like blouses, shorts, and drop crotch pants from a brand like Jac and Jack which not only look stunning, but can be worn with a whole host of different outfits – pair your pants with sneakers and a sweater, or get dressed up and layer an outfit that looks smart and sophisticated.
Essential pieces like this save you time and stress – and most importantly, mean you’ll have room in your case for souvenirs!
A reusable water bottle
Liquids at airport security can be a total pain.
Save money and stress by buying a reusable water bottle that you can take with you through the scanners.
Not only is this a great way to cut costs when you’re at the airport – remember: you’re a captive audience and you’ll have to pay over-the-odds for a bottle of water – but you’ll be protecting the planet, too.
Did you know that we send 22 billion plastic bottles to landfill or incinerators every year? Whilst you’re not going to change the world with one bottle, you’ll be doing your thing to protect the planet.
You can reuse your bottle when you’re on your trip to avoid picking up plastic there, too!
Protective sunscreen
Okay, we know we’re going to sound like your mum when we mention this next one, but it’s important that we do.
So many of us forget to pack sunscreen whether we’re headed to the beach or we’re jetting off half-way around the world, but there’s simply no excuse – if you’re not wearing any, you could be putting your skin at risk of cancer caused by the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.
Head to your supermarket or beauty store and stock up on a protective sunscreen that’s at least SPF 30 – higher if you have fair or sensitive skin.
Toiletries and medication
It’s so easy to head to your holiday destination, only to forget an important toiletry item or essential medication.
We thought we’d run through a list of the most important items:
- Your toothbrush
- A small tube of toothpaste (or tooth tabs from LUSH)
- A small deodorant (take in your hand luggage)
- A hairbrush and hair accessories
- A hairdryer and straighteners (check hotel first)
- Makeup and skincare products
- A razor
- A small tube of moisturiser with good SPF
- An aftersun product if you’re likely to burn
- Mouthwash
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Shower gel
- Diarrhoea tablets
- Paracetamol
- Antiseptic cream
- Plasters and bandages
- Personal medication
If you’ve ticked those off your list, then you should be good to go.
Travelling light or want to protect the environment? Buy the majority of your toiletries when you get to your holiday destination – you’ll find they’re not too expensive, and they mean your case will be light.
There you have it – some essentials to take with you on your summer holiday. Whatever you’re doing and wherever you’re going, we’re so jealous. Have a great time!
