Anime has become a huge part of popular culture, especially in the last few years meaning that streaming giant, Netflix has steadily been adding more and more titles to their anime collection. So today, we thought we’d gather ten of the biggest titles across the platform that is available for you to watch!
Haikyuu
Haikyuu is a popular sports anime that centers around the Karasuno High School Volleyball Club. We follow our main characters Hinata and Kageyama with the former picking up the sport after seeing a game on TV and seeing a popular high school player, “the little giant” and decides that he wants to play volleyball no matter how bad or good he is. Then there’s Kageyama who’s known for being an incredible setter who is really hard to get along with thanks to how he acted throughout his junior high years.
The two of them meet in a junior high volleyball tournament where they make enemies and Hinata makes a pact with himself to one day win against Kageyama and then on his first day of high school, he walks into his volleyball club and Kageyama is there too. So, the series follows how the two kind of make their friendship and showcases their journey of development and competition.
Haikyuu is such an easy series to watch. It’s a sporting anime, there’s a huge cast of characters that you will absolutely fall in love with, the story is easy to follow and it’s so addictive. Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix subbed and dubbed for you to watch! Have fun!
Noragami
Noragami, completely different from Haikyuu, is a more supernatural anime that follows our main character Hiyori, a middle school student living a pretty normal life until one day, she gets into a bus accident saving a stranger’s life.
The accident then causes Hiyori’s soul to actually slip from her body quite often and it’s here where she realises that there are two parallel worlds. There is the “Near Shore” where us normal people and normal creatures live happily and then there is the “Far Shore” where demons and the human souls reside. Through her soul, she meets a God named Yato who wants to make a name for himself by accepting any wishes so he accepts Hiyori’s wish to get her body back to normal.
Noragami is such an incredible anime that’s so underrated. It’s so fun, has these wonderful characters and has such beautiful themes of friendship, what it is to be human and having a soul. The first season is all ready for you to watch on Netflix!
Violet Evergarden
Violet Evergarden is a heartbreaking anime following a world in which people called Auto Memory Dolls are employed by a doctor to help his blind wife write her novels before they are then hired by other people to help out. So we follow our main character, Violet Evergarden, who works as basically a ghostwriter to help people write letters and express their emotions in letters.
We follow Violet’s journey after a war, her attempt to get back into society and the quest for her life’s purpose now that the war has ended. She starts off as a nameless soldier that a major takes in and his last words to her are “I love you” so she spends the anime looking for a purpose and what the words I love you mean.
It is heart-wrenching anime that will for sure just have you crying through most of the episodes but it is so beautiful, the characters are amazing, the art style is incredible and the music will just give you chills. The series is ready for you to binge on Netflix but maybe make sure you have some tissues nearby.
Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan, probably one of the most popular animes, is an absolute classic.
Attack on Titans centers on our main character, Eren, who lives in a village that is surrounded by a wall because on the other side of the wall are titans that eat people. One day, the titans breach the wall and with his father gone and his mother eaten by one of the Titans, Eren joins the military along with his friends Mikasa and Armin. We then follow them on their journey in the military as they try to defeat the titans that threaten the human race.
Attack on Titan is known as one of the greats for so many reasons. It’s an action-packed, fast-paced anime that will have you guessing, crying and laughing throughout the episodes. There are so many characters to get behind, to hate, to stress over. You will become invested in these characters and you just will not be able to stop watching because you need to find out what happens to them. Not only that, but the music is absolutely incredible and it’s all around an amazing anime that really deserves its place as one of the biggest.

Angel Beats
Angels Beats is an anime set in high school but a high school in the ‘afterlife’. But, it’s more of limbo where people who have experienced a horrific trauma end up because they have to be able to overcome it in order to be able to be passed on to be reincarnated.
We follow our main character, Yuzuru, who has amnesia and ends up in the afterlife where he meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the afterlife battlefront. Yuri formed the group because she wanted to lead rebels against a God that is unseen but they believe is the reason for their unfair lives. Their enemy is actually the student class president, Angel, who is known to have supernatural abilities within the school and they think he’s actually an associate of God.
With the overarching themes of Angel Beats, it is safe to say that this anime will absolutely break your heart. But, it is so worth watching, we think it is truly one of the most incredible and beautiful animes out there. You will love these characters and the setting is so interesting because it’s so realistic but at the same time it’s not because it’s the afterlife.
The series is available to watch on Netflix now!
Your Lie In April
Your Lie in April follows our main character Kōsei, a piano player who completely dominated all of the competitions when he was a child. But, after his mum tragically dies, Kōsei can no longer hear the sound of the piano even though his hearing is overall fine. Two years later, he’s still not touched a piano until a girl named Kaori, a charismatic, free-spirited fourteen year old violinist completely changes everything.
We can’t lie here and we know we’ve definitely said this before but Your Lie in April will 100% break your heart but again, it is so worth watching. The animation is absolutely stunning, the story, where it is sad will take your breath away and have you invested from start to finish. And, because this is an anime that centers around music, the soundtrack is incredible. Just make sure you have some tissues left, okay?

Blue Exorcist
In Blue Exorcist, we follow our main character, Rin who finds out that he and his twin brother, Yukio are actually the sons of Satan. After witnessing the man who raised them, Shiro, die to protect him, Rin draws a demon-slaying sword which restrains his demonic powers. After drawing the sword, Rin gains his demonic features, his fangs, and his tail as well as his power to ignite blue flames that basically destroy everything they touch. And, we follow Rin’s journey to becoming an exorcist!
Blue Exorcist is an anime that some people seem to have mixed feelings about as after the first half of the first season, it kind of went off on its own as the manga took longer to catch up to the show but it is still well-loved across the anime community and well worth giving some time to! Again, the characters, especially Rin himself, are so easy to fall in love with and make the experience such a fun time.

Death Note
Now, when you think of staples within the anime community, what comes to mind? Bleach? Cowboy Bebop? One Piece? Dragon Ball? Maybe all of these but surely, one title that comes to mind, Death Note. Death Note is truly an anime classic, it’s been so well-loved since it aired all the way back in 2006 and to this day, new and old anime fans have this one in their library!
In Death Note, we are in modern-day Tokyo where Ryuk, a shinigami who are these beings that are inspired by the Japanese God of Death, drops his “death note” into the hands of our main character, Light. Naturally, Light is originally cautious of the Death Note and whether it works as the Death Note is used to take the lives of the people who the owner writes within the pages. Light decides that he wants to be a good person and actually use the death note to kill criminals within Tokyo, the people who he believes “deserve to die” and as these criminals keep dying from random heart attacks with no explanation, the police begin to think that maybe something else is going on.
Soon, the media believes that a single person, dubbed Kira, is responsible for all of the deaths happening and the police get the help of a notorious detective, L. And, the whole thing starts to spiral from there. Like we mentioned, Death Note is a classic that is beloved and if you haven’t watched it yet, what are you doing? Or, if like us it’s been a while, why not give it a rewatch?
