Mother’s Day 2018: 5 last-minute gift ideas

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past week or two, here’s a gentle reminder. IT’S MOTHER’S DAY ON SUNDAY. If you’re yet to get your mother a gift, we’ve put together five last-minute ideas to save your skin and keep your family intact.

1. Flowers

You really can’t go wrong with some pretty flowers for the Mother’s Day, and the best part is that they can be delivered to your mum’s front door on the day itself. A decent bouquet will set you back between £30 and £60, but you can find cheaper alternatives in your local supermarket. If you want to be more environmentally friendly – after all, cut flowers are wasteful – then consider buying a plant or a rose bush that will last for years to come.

2. A subscription

Whether your mum has been a Netflix subscriber since day one or she’s yet to join the streaming world, buy her a subscription this Mother’s Day and treat her to some quality entertainment. Whether it’s music, TV shows or films, she’ll be glad you did, and it’s much more cost-effective than buying a DVD or CD she wants.

3. Some new clothes

If you’re confident of your mum’s fashion sense, then consider treating her to a new outfit. Head to your local mall with a friend in tow, and splash out on a new dress, a new pair of jeans or even some new pyjamas. You can’t go wrong with clothes.

4. A day out

The chances are that your mum works too hard. Show her that you care and treat her to a day out. Perhaps you could take her to a theme park, to the movies or to the theatre. There are lots of ways to show that you care, and the best thing about a day out is that you get to make the most of her gift, too!

5. Sunday lunch

Does your mum cook a Sunday lunch every week? Give her a break and take over the kitchen for the weekend. Prepare a tasty breakfast with bacon and eggs, and then go all out with a traditional Sunday roast. Sure, it might not be as tasty as your mum’s home cooking, but she’ll be grateful for the weekend off.
