Meow Wolf is the coolest thing. Ever.
In case you are unfamiliar, Meow Wolf’s art complex is a cross between an interactive art exhibit and a real-life video game. Located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it is housed in an old bowling alley paid for by George R.R. Martin, the author behind Game of Thrones.
The main exhibit is “The House of Eternal Return.” This is quite literally a house that you somehow always end up back at. The premise behind the exhibit is a large, old farmhouse that through some freaky accident (that you have to figure out), is now connected to multiple universes.
I won’t spoil it for you because it’s more fun to have no idea what you’re walking into, but I have to mention a couple things:
The entire experience is like a gigantic sensory overload. Strange things happen at every turn, and the fridge is most definitely not just a fridge. I can only compare it to one of those weird dreams where everything is connected, but none of it makes sense.
One of my favorite rooms (which is the only one that I’ll mention) is what I call the cartoon room:
In it, everything is black and white. It feels like you’ve been transported into some old-time cartoon. It’s one of the weirdest and one of the best feelings.
If you’re ever in the Santa Fe area, I strongly recommend visiting Meow Wolf. You will leave, exhausted, overwhelmed, and incredibly inspired.
