Global megastar Jennifer Lopez has today (January 11th) been unveiled as the face of the Versace Spring Summer 2020 advertising campaign.
Shot by iconic fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the campaign celebrates the digital era and the new cult of self-identity, exploring the theme and idea of how the internet has blurred the lines in all of our lives: between the personal and private, fashion and technology, vanity and self-love.
Starring alongside JLO in the highly stylised, futuristic ads are models Kohei Takabatake and Kendall Jenner – with both Lopez and Jenner wearing pieces in the reprised jungle print of the that Versace dress – as well as LBD’s, accessorised with gold statement jewels, chic bags and killer heels in accompanying shots.
Read the House of Versace’s detailed description of their 2020 ad campaign in full below:
“Set in a contemporary, tech-driven landscape, looks from the collection are surrounded by the results of a futuristic holographic search webpage.
Jennifer Lopez and Kendall Jenner type their own names into the search bar as emblems of an age in which we define our self-image by what we choose to portray online – in effect making the screen the real mirror of our time. Masters of their own sensuality, the two showcase their most brave and liberated selves, blurring the line between the private and public sphere.”
“I am so proud Google Images was invented after Jennifer wore that dress.” Chief Creative Officer of Versace, Donatella Versace said in a statement detailing the ads release. “Today, we celebrate that moment that was possible thanks to this incredible woman!”
“To me, Versace represents empowerment and putting something beautiful out into the world.” Lopez adds. “It’s a dream to collaborate with my friend Donatella again on this gorgeous campaign and to create something new and fresh out of a piece of iconic fashion history.”

A Versace / Lopez Love Affair
It was back in the year 2000 when Jennifer Lopez first began her affiliation with the House of Versace, by wearing – what is now officially known as – ‘the dress’ to the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
And though it may have been 20 years next month since the Waiting For Tonight singer shocked the world by adorning the navel bearing gown, it’s impact and influence is still just as powerful today as it was back then.
“In terms of my career, the Jungle dress really marked a moment in time.” Jennifer reflects. “I’ll never forget that night, it was just magical.”
With both Jennifer Lopez and Versace rising to newer heights of glory in 2019/2020, now seems like the perfect time for these two iconic entities to come back together to once again make fashion magic!
