Being able to hang up the old work shoes and kick back and retire is a big deal. It pretty much takes a whole life to accomplish. So before you finalize your planning and guest list and send out your retirement invitation cards, you might want to think about a few things. What is the best way to honor that special person in your life that has given so much for you and your family over the years? Personalized Guest Book/Sign In Book
At the retirement party, have a custom guest book made where each guest can put down their names and favorite memory they have with the retiree. As the retiree settles into retired life, it will be a joy to look through their guestbook and read all the lovely comments from their friends and family. You can usually get a guestbook made at the same stationery company that you used to create your party invitations.
Video Interviews
Setting up interviews with co-workers and family for them to express what the time they were able to spend with the retiree meant and to tell any funny stories they remember is a great gift to give, and the retiree can watch the videos over and over.
Slideshow
A slideshow is something you use at the actual retirement party for the entertainment of all and makes a great keepsake for the retiree. Asking for photos from friends, family, and co-workers spanning the retiree’s working career can make for an enjoyable stroll down memory lane.
Tribute Speech
A well-done tribute speech can we a heartwarming moment for everyone in attendance. It is your chance to tell your loved one how much they mean to you as well how much you appreciate the hard work then went into the last 30 years at their job.
Roast
Depending on the retiree, this may or may not be for them. They need to be able to take a few jabs that will be headed their way—usually inviting those that now the retiree best to take 5 minutes and tell some jokes at the guest of honors expense.
Special Toast
A special toast has a lot in common with a tribute speech and can be done at the same time. However, usually, a toast will not need to be as long. A simple toast is also a great way to allow multiple people to raise a glass and express their thoughts for the retiree.
These are just a couple of ideas of what you can do to commemorate a lifetime that was spent at work and the beginning of a much quieter life. You don’t need to select just one. You can combine as many of the above ideas as you would like. No matter what you decide to do, it will be the thought that goes into the party that is sure to make it a hit and a memorable event for the retiree as well as every else in attendance.
