Happy Birthday, Christian Bale! Our 5 Favorite Christian Bale Movies

On January 30, 1974, Christian Bale was born in Wales and we’re here to celebrate!

Christian Bale has wowed audiences for quite some time (since 1987!), so it feels incredibly hard to narrow down our favorite five Christian Bale movies, but we’re doing it in honor of one of our favorite guys!

So without further ado, happy birthday Christian Bale — we hope some of these are your favorite too!

Little Women (1994)

Look, Timothee Chalamet did it, but Christian Bale did it first.

Bale was an incredible Laurie, bringing a sweet and charming character to life — although not everyone’s a fan of the goatee, there is no denying Christian did a phenomenal job with this role. He made Laurie feel like a determined, loyal man who would do anything for the people he loves, and I don’t think Christian Bale is too far-off character.

The Dark Knight (2008)

I know that different people have differing opinions about the best Batman, but Christian Bale will always be my favorite Batman. From the incredible physical to changes, to working alongside some of the best actors around, Christian Bale’s Batman is incomparable.

The Big Short (2015)

An incredible ensemble for an incredible movie; I cannot count the amount of times I have seen this movie, but I am never disappointed by a single performance. Christian Bale plays Michael Burry, and he does it so well. There are point where you’re frustrated with him and there are even points where you continue to question whether things are going to succeed for them (and they always do).

Ford v. Ferrari (2019)

I accidentally ended up watching this movie and I cannot believe I literally almost missed it.

Ford v. Ferrari was exciting, shot so wonderfully and the cast helps it stay away from feeling worn out. Because of how high the stakes feel throughout the whole movie, the cars make this feel faster and the end stays with you for a while.

Vice (2018)

Vice completely swept me away — there are not enough words to describe what this film did to my mind, it completely overtook my thoughts for quite some time. Christian Bale immersed himself in this role and did not disappoint. His ability to not just mimick but become Cheney is unbelievable. I think I spent two hours sending out texts begging people to watch this movie.
