As a fearless artist, unabashed and unafraid to travel the road less travelled to bring to life her own creative visions, Brocarde’s previous fashion designs have been worn by A-list celebrities including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
For this weeks edition of “Fuzzable Talks Fashion!…” we caught up with Brocarde to talk FASHION, BEAUTY, STYLE INSPO and BODY CONFIDENCE!
How would you best describe your own personal style?
Victorian, broken-doll, more darkness than sunshine with menacing undertones and a spoonful of honey.
Where do you look to find inspiration for outfits?
As I have my own clothing collection I’m never short of inspiration, that’s the best part, I have a closet full of me, all covered in my lyrics so it’s heart and soul. I love sumptuous fabrics and structure and I feel we can learn a lot from vintage era’s where fashion wasn’t so fast and the world wasn’t so disposable.
What 3 items do you always carry with you in your handbag?
Phone, car keys and purse, with those three items you can take over the world, survival over vanity.
Can you tell us a secret makeup tip?
I’m fascinated by make-up and how transformative it can be, for work the world is my oyster but I hate feeling like I’m hiding behind a mask, where people see your make-up and not your face, a little Chanel mascara is sometimes all you need.
Do you have a favourite red carpet look of yours from over the years?
Since I started designing my own clothes, performing and appearances are so much more fun. I no longer have to worry about finding something that suits me or that I feel comfortable in and I can express myself in a whole new way.
What one style trend from the past do you most want to see make a comeback?
I don’t follow trends, and I don’t really care if something makes a comeback or stays away, if I love it I’ll wear it, I don’t think there’s a rule book.
Is there a particular era of fashion that you love / wish you’d been a part of?
There’s two really conflicting sides of my personality, aesthetically and for the sense of occasion I’d love to exist in the Victorian era, as the theatrics are second to none. My inner tomboy would die though and I’d feel so restricted, I wouldn’t be able to climb walls and run away from people, which would be a problem.
Who is your all-time fashion icon?
The Queen, she’s out their killing it and is timeless in her approach, she knows her brand and sticks to it like glue.
Which other celebrity’s wardrobe would you love to have free reign of?
As you said free reign, it leads me back to The Queen. I mean imagine all the treasure’s you’d find, I’d love to get my hands on the crown jewels!
What advice you would give to anybody not feeling so confident about themselves and how they look?
Know that you are not alone, I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t have an insecurity or two about their appearance, it’s totally normal so embrace all your differences and consider them powerful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it’s often the things that we hate that give us our unique character and appeal. There is not just one vision of beauty, it’s all enclusive so try to love yourself in the best way that you can.
