Hey guys, it’s Michele again, writing to you from New Jersey! Yes, I have officially finished my sophomore year of college and I am excited to be back home for the summer.
My sophomore year of college has been a great year. In case you missed my first blog post, this year was a time of new experiences, specifically because I changed my major. Last year, I studied Art Education, and now I am studying Media Studies and Production. When I first made the switch, I was nervous, and told myself that if I ended up not liking it, I could always switch back. Now a year later, I can’t see myself studying anything other than Media Studies and Production.
Each of my classes have been extremely interesting. I have studied and analyzed different films, television shows, newspaper articles, and video games, and because of that, I view media in a whole new way. This subject has so many layers, and it really makes you think twice about the media you consume.
I am transferring my art credits to an Art Minor, and I am also thinking about adding a second. My school recently announced that they will be creating a Journalism minor, and although they have not finished the process, I know that I will definitely be doing it.
When you’re in high school and college, one of the top questions you get it is, “what do you want to do with that degree?” Before, I didn’t know the answer to this question, but after this year, I feel that my greatest wish is to be right in the middle of the action working in the media industry, interviewing some of the biggest stars on the red carpet.
I know that I need to keep working hard to accomplish that dream, and that is why this summer, I will be completing my first internship at a media company.
I also hope to get a part-time job this summer. Although it may not be the most exciting job, I still need to pay for school. I just need to remind myself that this is just another step closer to accomplishing my goals.
We all have to start somewhere.
