Fuzzable Blogs: June 23 - Preparing to study abroad

It’s the evening of June 23 here in the United States, and one week from a today I will be leaving the United States for the first time on a study abroad trip. I will be traveling to Austria for three weeks studying the German language and taking absolutely everything in.

I’m both excited and nervous to fly to Europe. I’ve only flown one other time in my life, and I was in fifth grade so I don’t really remember it at all. I’ve been anticipating this trip for months. I got my passport months ago, and I’ve been prepping along the way, buying things such as a travel journal or travel-size bottles for shampoo and body wash.

I’ve been studying the German language since my sophomore year of high school, but since I came to university three years ago my German language courses have been sporadic, causing a lot of fluctuation with my knowledge base. However, being completely immersed in the culture for three years will no doubt help me rejuvenate my language skills and bring it all back to me.

Despite peers from my university going on this study abroad trip, I actually don’t personally know any of the other students. Therefore I am essentially going alone, and I’m surprisingly not that upset about it. I will have complete control of my downtime and be able to explore as much as I want, when I want. We’re also not flying together, so taking this journey by myself is going to be a huge journey for myself, and one from which I am extremely excited to grow.

As I ready myself for this voyage, I have of course been putting together a playlist, because it’s what I do. I want to share just a few of the songs that will be on repeat during my forthcoming journey.
