Welcome back to my monthly Fuzzable blog which I’ve left ’til the last minute to write. Oops.
This past month has been a hectic whirlwind – since moving to London at the end of May, I’ve been in a permanent state of exhaustion trying to keep up with big city life whilst settling into my new job and house share. It’s all going okay so far and once I’ve had time to gather my thoughts then I will write a blog post about everything but for today I’m going to turn my attention to something else (which, incidentally, has actually played quite a part in my time in London so far).
Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past few months, you’ll know that earlier this year the Jonas Brothers made their comeback. As I’ve mentioned in a previous blog, I worshipped Joe, Kevin and Nick the first time round and have supported them for well over ten years now. I mean, I named my first car after Joe and instead of having a big birthday party and getting drunk for my 18th, I went to see the Jonas Brothers on tour in Manchester! So when it was finally confirmed that they were returning, I was pretty much beside myself.
Over the past few months, the trio have served us SO well. New singles, videos, an album, live performances, tour dates, a documentary, a forthcoming book and so much more – what a time to be alive! I’ve been lucky enough to see them perform twice in the past few weeks thanks to their European trip. First off was their intimate show at Pryzm, Kingston, (the fact that I was actually there was miraculous, fate at its finest), and the second was at Summertime Ball in Wembley. Not being biased but they were the stand out act of the day AND BROUGHT OUT BUSTED FOR YEAR 3000.
We’ve also got tickets for their tour next year and we’re going to be meeting and greeting and seeing them live in Paris. I CAN’T EVEN. Not only am I gonna cross off one of my 30 before 30 wishes by seeing someone perform abroad but I’m going to meet the band who’ve played a massive part in my life. I’ve already met Joe three times and whilst I’m excited to see him again as he is undoubtedly my favourite, I am completely beside myself at the thought of finally meeting Kevin and Nick. I know it’ll be quick, but it’s actually going to happen and I don’t think that’ll ever sink in!!
One of my favourite things about the new era of the Jonas Brothers though, is their brand new album Happiness Begins. What. An. Album. It’s very rare for me to love a whole album but every song on this one is just incredible. I’ve been listening to it on a loop whilst working, I just can’t get enough.
To round off this blog, I thought I’d share with you five of my favourite songs from the album. Enjoy!
5. ‘Every Single Time’
I love the vibe of this song, which I can only describe as a chilled bop haha. “Every single time I keep on coming back to you” is highly appropriate because once you’ve fallen for the Jonas Brothers you can never escape your love for them, and let’s face it, why would you want to?
4. ‘Hesitate’
‘Hesitate’ is just stunning, there’s not much more to be said. Also it’s Joe’s love letter to his wife Sophie Turner, and tbh I’ve never wanted to be Sophie more than I do at this moment in time haha.
3. ‘Only Human’
This song is so funky and it’s everything I could hope for and more from the Jonas Brothers in 2019. It’s going to sound lush live so they better sing it on tour! It also features the lyric “Let’s find a place where happiness begins”, and it just reminds me that the band are in the happiest place they’ve ever been right now, which is all any fan wants for their favourite band.
2. ‘Rollercoaster’
How can you not love this song? It’s so infectious! Also it was co-written by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) who is another of my favourite artists. You can really hear his influence in the song so combining two of my worlds makes this an awesome track.
1. ‘Strangers’
I am HOOKED on this song. If I still had a need to drive then this would be THE song to play as it’s the ultimate driving song. It’s like a modern version of an 80’s power anthem and I adore it. The chorus with the guitar line is so euphoric, I need to hear this live please and thank you.
Notable mention – ‘Comeback’
Because their comeback has been THE most special comeback ever and Happiness Begins NOW. Welcome back boys!
