Fuzzable Blogs: January 15 – Amber’s Not-So-Lovely-Mornings

So. Here we are.

Introduction posts are never easy, but before we get to it, it’s important to note that you’re talking to (or well, reading my blog posts) the girl who doesn’t get out of bed until she absolutely has to. In theory, that would mean getting out at ten, showering, getting ready for the day and doing whatever it is that you would need to do. In reality, that means that my alarm goes off at maybe ten in the morning just because. I don’t snooze it, just simply turn it off, and then don’t wake up until two in the afternoon with my cat perched on my chest, demanding immediate attention.

That’s the start of a day in the life of Amber, and it doesn’t really go up from there. Fact number one that you need to know about who I am as a person: I hate mornings. Fact number two: if you look in my bag, you will almost always find a copy of one of the Harry Potter books in there. If there’s not a Harry Potter book, it will be something Harry Potter related, no matter how you try to spin it. I wish I had more street cred than that, but my inner nerd demands to be let out more often than not. This ties in quite well with fact number three: I don’t do guilty pleasures. When I like something, I like it unapologetically, and I will not be shamed for doing so. Celebrate those pop songs you enjoy listening to when you’re grumpy, celebrate the shitty novels you read, and celebrate who you are as a person. If that means dying your hair a different colour once every two months, so be it. (and if that happens to be it, well, I’m very happy to do it along with you. Latest metamorphosis? Pastel pink. I will gladly take suggestions.)

Back to the, maybe slightly boring, basics to tell you who I am. I live in Amsterdam, I am twenty-five years old and currently doing my masters in Book and Digital Media studies. If I could, I would be surrounded by books all day, so I’m hoping to be a novelist sometime in the future. We’ll see how that turns out, but for now, I’m happy to write my opinions on Fuzzable and just let those creative juices flow. Get ready for some advocating on breaking mental health stigmas and some unnecessarily deep opinions on media, tied in with some love for pop music here and there.

I hope you’re happy to read about all these things as well. Can’t wait for you all to join me on the ride!
