Fuzzable Blogs: January 11 – What does 2017 hold for me?

It’s January 11th, 2017, which means there are two big things I can reflect on: what happened last year, and what is going to happen this year.

This year, I plan to grow progress on everything I started in 2016. 2016 was a good year for me personally, even though many people will say otherwise. It was the year that I finally sat down and decided where I wanted to do with my life.

This started with a massive milestone: I GOT A JOURNALISM INTERNSHIP. It may only be for a small, local news website, but my name is out there and people know where to find me if they want a story. The world of journalism and writing is so much more fun and interesting than I could ever have imagined and I feel honoured that I have the chance to share my hobby with the world (starting with Swindon).

I also learnt that some friends are only there for you when they want something. I found this out the hard way. When I needed help and advice with something important, barely any of my “friends” wanted anything to do with it. I felt so shut off and alone, but I found out who my true friends were, and who I want to spend my time with. Since then, I’ve been a lot happier with my friends and made some amazing memories.

Speaking of memories, my Mum thought it would be fun to get out some baby photos of me. Great, right? Wrong. She chose the weekend that my boyfriend was staying over. He got to see ALL of the photos of me from the day I was born, right up until digital cameras were invented and we no longer needed to print photos. We did have a laugh at my sister trying to take a selfie at age 4 after she’d finished playing with Mum’s make-up!

I’ve told myself that this will be the year I learn to cook, but I said that last year, and since then have learnt to cook chicken nuggets and chips… But this year I’m serious about it; I’ve bought cook books and everything. Although, truth be told, I looked at the desserts first. And a few times after that in case I forgot how good they looked!

The one certainty I have this year is that I’M GOING TO DISNEYLAND in 2017. My boyfriend amd I have booked our first holiday away together and I couldn’t be more excited. Disneyland Paris was our go-to holiday destination for the first seven years of my life and I can’t wait to go back there. I got so many Christmas presents either for or related to Disney and we’re not going for another 9 months! It still feels like a dream, but it’s really happening.

2017 is also the year I turn 20. This is a scary thought for me as 20 sounds so much older and mature than 19. It’s the age you feel most pressured to grow up and get your life together. Let’s see how that goes…
