Fuzzable Blogs: February 9th – Goals for 2019

It’s 2019 and I am officially shook.

I’m sorry, where did the last quarter of 2018 go exactly? Also, I’m really sad Christmas is over just leave me here, I’m fine, I promise.

At the start of 2018, I wrote a post on my goals for the year so, I thought, it’s 2019, why not be completely unoriginal and go for it again?

Complete My Goodreads Reading Challenge

Every year, I set myself a goal on Goodreads which is an app where you can track all of the books that you’re reading throughout the year. I do really love Goodreads because I just love being able to see what I’m reading but, I also find it has a downside which is that sometimes I do feel really pressured with how fast I’m reading books and how many I’m reading which sucks. But, anyway, my challenge for this year. Normally, I start the year by setting it at 50 books and extending it as the year goes on but this year, I am setting it at 50 and sticking to 50.

Going into 2019, I really want to stop pressuring myself when it comes to reading. Reading is something that I absolutely love and I do for pleasure not to please other people and I really think I need to relearn that. So, yes, this year my goal is officially 50 books and if I read more than that, amazing. If I don’t quite reach that goal, that’s fine too because at the end of the day, reading is a hobby and I know that I need to chill out a little. There’s also another reason which I’ll be going into in another one of my goals.

Finish My Novel

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve wanted to write and publish my own book. I have been writing like I said, like I was a little kid because I loved stories and being in these amazing words and that hasn’t changed at all. But, I went into a complete writing slump for two years and now in 2019, I really want to complete and do all of the revisions and start looking for an agent for my first novel.

In 2018, I took part in and ‘won’ Nanowrimo which is where in the month of November, you attempt to write 50,000 words of a novel and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but I loved taking part and felt so accomplished when I made it to the goal. But, it really refueled my love of writing and how much I love this craft. So, I would love to complete my revisions for my novel that I wrote during Nanowrimo and carried on through December as it’s a novel that I really love. I’ve also started another novel that I’m really excited about and would love to finish and start my revisions for in 2019 too!

This goal feeds into my lowered reading goal of 2019 because I want to focus on my writing and not pressure myself into reading as much as I physically can.

#FitForFlorida

In 2020, I am planning a family vacation with my parents, brother, best friend and her mum to DisneyWorld and Universal in Florida. So, in 2019, I really like to start going to the gym and lose some weight and just be overall, fitter because Florida is a huge holiday and you do a lot of walking etc and, every time I go I just get so exhausted and just lag so much and I’d like to be different this time so getting fit for Florida is one of my main goals in 2019.

Take Care Of Myself More

I know, I know okay, I know that this was on my goals for 2018 too but this is just such an important thing and I feel like I didn’t really achieve it in 2018. And, even if I did, I think I’ll still have it on my list every year because self care is just such an important things that we should all be doing. Now more than ever, I think stress levels of us all are really high and we should be taking days/evenings to have a bath, read a book, have a glass of wine and just look after ourselves more and that’s something I definitely want to do.

My mental health isn’t the best and I know that I need to take care of myself more. In 2018, I had some quite intense bouts of illness where I just couldn’t leave my bed and I just watched movies because I’d gotten myself so stressed and so worked up that my body just couldn’t cope anymore and I think I definitely would like to stop that from happening and take of my mind and body more through 2019.

Save Some Money

Like I mentioned, we’re planning a big Florida trip in 2020 and that means I want to save more money in 2019. I really want to cut down on gigs because, they’re costing me a lot of money and I’m just starting to lose my love for them which makes me sad and I think it’s because I go to so many during the year and would also like to stop buying things I don’t need. I buy a lot of books during the year too which I’d like to cut down on too as I have my preorders of books I’m really excited for and then apart from those, I’m going to try and limit the other books that I buy to save some money. I will also be putting aside more money into my savings account because I just want this trip to be amazing and just generally save some extra money up.

So there we are, some of my main goals of 2019! I have some smaller ones too here are there but here are my main goals and of course, I’ll update you at the end of the year to see how I got on!
