Welcome back to my monthly Fuzzable blog! As this will be my last blog as a 26 year old, I wanted to share something which involved looking back at yesteryear.
Having already written a “letter to my 16 year old self” this time last year, I’ve been trying to think of a suitable and slightly less serious blog post to capture my younger days. Whilst I was clearing at my gran’s house, I came across an old MP3 player of mine which I’d given her many moons ago and like a bolt of lightning, inspiration struck.
The MP3 player only contained a few songs – Robson & Jerome’s Happy Days album, and ‘Schnappi das kleine Krokodil’. Strange combination, I know! However, it brought back so many memories. I used to listen to the Robson & Jerome album all the time with gran, with ‘Crying in the Rain’ being my favourite song, mainly because of the hilarious first-take version which was included on the album. The ‘Schnappi’ song was also a favourite after hearing it during a trip to Butlins with my mum.
The MP3 player got me thinking about all the songs I used to bop to whilst growing up. I’ve always been a huge lover of music, with pop music in particular stealing the biggest place in my heart. So, for August’s blog I thought I would share with you a playlist of songs which remind me of my childhood.
Of course you can expect the likes of the Steps (my first ever concert), S Club 7 and S Club Juniors (I used to learn their routines and I can still nail a few of them). However, this 68-track playlist is just made up of a random assortment of tracks that I listened to as a kid up until my early teens (and still bop to now on a regular basis).
Three things that I learnt about myself from putting together this playlist:
- I will always have a penchant for cheesy music
- Learning small raps will forever be my party piece
- I can still remember my favourite 90’s songs word for word, but I struggle to remember anything practical lol
I hope that you enjoy my 90’s/early 00’s throwback and find at least one song which you can completely lose yourself silly in and sing along to word for word!
