You can’t have Stitch without Lilo, right? Well, unless you count the Japanese TV show Stitch! which follows on the alien’s adventure on Earth, where he meets Yuna, or even the latest TV show from China, titled Stitch & Ai. However, since Disney has announced there will be a live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, it’s no surprise that merchandise of these two lovable characters are appearing everywhere.
Now, we have a Vynl. duo of Lilo & Stitch, which is a whole new collection from Funko featuring famous duos, and looking similar, yet far removed, from Funko Pop!, although both Lilo Pelekai and Stitch can be found in the Pop! style separately, with Stitch being in a variety of costumes.
Separately, Lilo and Stitch do not have a whole lot in common, Lilo is a young orphaned girl living with her sister in Hawaii; she’s highly spirited and eccentric which has made it difficult for her to make human friends. As for Stitch, he was made as alien experiment 625 by Dr. Jumba Jookiba, which was an illegal genetic experiment, created to cause chaos across the galaxy, in space. He is mischievous, a trouble-maker, and has a slight temper on him.
In the film, Lilo adopts Stitch as her “dog”, and they make unlikely friends, with Lilo teaching Stitch how to be good. The whole film relies heavily on “Ohana”, and we’ve all seen the famous quote from the film, “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten”; it’s from one of the most iconic scenes from the film, and yet Funko Pop! has separated them, but not anymore.
Embracing “Ohana” in every single way, Funko Vynl. pairs the two main characters from Lilo & Stitch. Both characters have their hands up as if they’re waving at us from inside the box – we so need this in our lives. We also hope this is the start of more Lilo & Stitch Funkos as we would love to see Dr. Jumba and Pleakley as Funko Pop! or even as a Funko Vynl. as they are quite the pair. And, we cannot forget about Lilo’s sister, Nani Pelekai – she definitely needs to become a Funko Pop! soon, too.
The Disney Lilo & Stitch Funko Vynl. is expected to be released during this month of December 2018. Reports suggest that some stores in the US are already selling this lovable pair, while other stores in the US and the UK have stated that it’ll be released sometime this month.
