Today – December 23, 2018 – is my twenty-second birthday and my blog day, and I couldn’t think of anything better to do than to make a wishlist for the next year. My birthday is so close to the end of the year that I often get reflective and think “What do I like to do? What should I do more in my everyday life?” with the new year approaching. So, now that I’m twenty-two today, here are twenty-two things in a wishlist that I want to do while I’m twenty-two:
1. Plant things!
Once springtime comes around, I want to take full advantage of my front porch area to plant some pots with teas such as lavender and lemongrass. I really want to grow into my green thumb and be able to drink tea made from home-grown plants.
2. Generally explore my interests more!
I always say I’m too busy to do things I want to do, whether it be going out with friends or exploring my interests such as cooking/reading/etc. It’s the year of taking time for myself!
3. Watch more films!
So many films have been released that I still want to see, and I hope to watch a bunch of these over the next year!
4. Travel more!
This year I was lucky enough to travel to Tampa, Florida, for a writing conference and to Austria and Germany as a study abroad trip through my university. Next year, I want to travel more and expand my horizons further!
5. Explore more foods/drinks!
This year I tried more foods and drinks than ever before (including a large variety of teas, which have been delicious), and next year I want to try even more, which leads to…
6. Cook more!
I don’t only want to try more foods at restaurants; I want to try cooking more things, too!
7. Bake more!
Furthermore, I want to bake more! This year I was baking some as stress relief from school, but I eventually got too busy to keep it up. While 22, I want to bake extravagant, tasty foods to share with everyone around me.
8. Write more poetry!
I just started truly writing poetry over the last year, and I really want to hunker down and create more words.
9. Write more stories!
Similarly, I want to create even more short stories and put more time into the novel that I started a while ago to hopefully finish the first draft of it!
10. Get a job in my field!
Right now I work in a restaurant while getting through university, but I graduate in May with my bachelors degree and would love to get a job in my field while working toward my masters degree!
11. Read more!
If I’m being honest, my TBR list keeps getting longer, with no catching up in sight. Here’s hoping 2019 allows me to catch up some!
12. Read more fairy tales!
I love fairy tales, but I’ve only scratched the surface of the world’s cache of them.
13. Be more studious!
I always tell myself that I put my all into my studies, but I know I could spend a little more time studying.
14. Be more spontaneous!
This is less specific, but I typically operate with things fully planned. Though that is great in some aspects of life, I hope to allow myself more spontaneity in the coming year.
15. Adopt a dog!
I currently have two cats (named Helios and Misty), but in the new year I want to get a dog at some point!
16. Decorate my apartment!
After moving into my apartment, I got so busy that I never fully decorated it. There is much to be done!
17. Generally do more DIY!
I want to get craftier than ever and do more hands-on projects!
I write a monthly blog, but I want to keep a more detailed blog where I can be personal and show more of my life and connect to others!
19. Finally decide on my career path!
I graduate with my bachelors degree in May and will attending graduate school in the fall for my masters, but will I end up doing? Here’s hoping I figure it out!
20. Truly take time to relax!
I’m a go-go-go kind of person, but the last two years have taught me just how important it is to chill out for a while and recuperate.
21. Begin a YouTube channel!
I started one a while back, but I didn’t upload consistently and my focus was never clear. In 2019, I want to cement myself in it.
22. Continue to learn!
This sounds generic, but I have specific interests I want to further explore. These include but are not limited to learning more about fairy tales and learning more about photo/video editing.
