Welcome to a coming of age book celebration. When it comes to “must read” books, there is no end to the list, there are so many books that no matter how good they never make their way to our shelves. But then, we are the readers and we love to devour books.
So, a reference point is always good for a reader who wants to explore as many books as she can.
In the first article of our series, we gave you a list of most popular books one must read. But today, we decided to choose a specific genre. So, for this week, we have chosen to give you top 5 “coming of age” novels. Coming of Age novel aka Bildungsroman is a genre where author traces his/her protagonist’s journey from birth to maturity.
Earlier, Bildungsroman would end with death but over the period of time, authors decided to choose revelation (attaining wisdom) as a point of culmination. The “revelation” often becomes the end of the novel but a new beginning for the protagonist, a point using which he/she embarks on a new journey.
