In this ground-breaking debut essay collection, featuring never-before-seen photos, actress Lilly Collins – star of Mortal Instruments and the upcoming Rules Don’t Apply – is opening a poignant, honest conversation about the things young women struggle with: body image, self-confidence, relationships, family, dating, and so much more. For the first time ever, Lily shares her life and her own deepest secrets, underlining that every single one of is experiences pain and heartbreak. We all understand what it’s like to live in the light and in the dark. For Lily, it’s about making it through to the other side, where you love what you see in the mirror and where you embrace yourself just as you are. She’s learned that all it takes is one person standing up and saying something for everyone else to realise they’re not alone. By turns hilarious and heart-breaking, Lily’s honest voice will inspire you to be who you are and say what you feel. It’s time to claim your voice! It’s time to live your life unfiltered.
I’m just going to firstly get to the point and say I absolutely LOVED this book!
“I am whole just as I am. I am defined not by my life experiences but by how I let them affect me and how I handle myself in each situation.”
I’ve always admired Lily and her beauty the second I watched her in the movie ‘Abduction‘ with Taylor Lautner. Being able to actually be drawn in to the life of Lily’s with this collection of essays is such an honour, as I have learnt so much more about her, her family, her aspirations and her deepest, darkest secrets. I genuinely feel so inspired and touched by Lily and everything she has gone through, everything she stood up for… She’s truly became an inspiration to me and I will admire her forever.
Lily’s collection of essays really makes you feel how important and special every word is to her and how much it could be to you also, in the future. With each turn of a page and every word that I read, I could feel my life slowly changing for the better. I could feel myself become more empowered, confident, ready to try new things, explore life and most importantly, love myself and who I am.
“I will never need anyone to complete me. I am enough on my own.”
I have never felt more relatable to any autobiography than I do to Lily’s. Lily and I have a lot in common, everything she wrote regarding loving herself, standing up for herself etc. I saw a piece of me in each sentence and feeling that similarity makes this book that more special to me. I am Lily, Lily is me. (I wish.)
Lily didn’t write this book just to share her life with us, she wrote this book to share her stories, to inspire, to encourage, to speak out, to let people know that it’s okay to be stuck in the darkness, as there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel and most importantly, to be unfiltered. Without giving too much away, Lily talks in depth about how she suffered from anorexia and abusive relationships, which I believe can help so many girls, no matter what age, to seek out help and not get trapped in to toxic situations. It’s an eye opener for everybody and I recommend it so, so much!
“You deserve happiness. You deserve to be loved just as you love others. You deserve everything.”
