Book Review: Disney Villains: The Evilest Of Them All By Rachel Upton

Who doesn’t like Disney? We’ve all got our favourite film, our favourite character, and our favourite villain. There’s so many to choose from but there’s always one of each that stays with you no matter how old you get.

There are a total of 57 feature films from Walt Disney Animation Studios, with the first release being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, back in 1937. There has been a whole range of more animated films that have been produced or released by Walt Disney Studios including 20 Pixar films to-date.

So, of course, when the opportunity to receive a review copy of the book Disney Villains: The Evilest Of Them All written by Rachel Upton and published by Studio Fun International came our way, how could we have said no? This book delves readers into the villains’ stories through a conversational format with their sidekicks, telling their side to all the iconic narratives that we all know and love.

As with all villains, they twist the truth somewhat before being corrected by their sidekicks. What Rachel Upton has done is incredible, she has truly captured each villain so much so that this feels like it’s part of the original story because every reader can imagine these villains actually having this conversation.

Throughout the book, there are interactive elements, with gatefolds and lift-the-flaps which widens the stories they’re telling. We loved reading this and it’s totally worth the read.

The villains included in this book are Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Jafar from Aladdin, Mother Gothel from Tangled, Lady Tremaine from Cinderella, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Scar from The Lion King, Cruella De Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Captain Hook from Peter Pan, Hades from Hercules, and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.

“Disney Villains: The Evilest Of Them All” by Rachel Upton is available to buy now, this is a must-have for any Disney fan, for sure!
