5 of Our Favorite Bilingual Songs

Internationally-inspired music has been gracing radio airwaves and streaming services recently, and we absolutely adore it. Popular Western artists such as Dua Lipa and Cardi B, among many others, have helped this influx of music by collaborating with artists from other cultures and bringing forward fun, fantastic new music.

On the pop scene, Dua Lipa has recently collaborated with KPOP group BLACKPINK on a funky track titled “Kiss and Make Up.” While fellow KPOP group BTS has been rocking the charts lately, Dua Lipa has helped introduce her listeners to BLACKPINK and the power of female KPOP groups. All of their voices soar on this track, and we know we now want to explore BLACKPINK’s other music after hearing both their beautiful voices and the Korean language!

On the other hand, Cardi B has been incorporating international music into her repertoire as well. She appeared on Ozuna’s “La Modelo,” where she both sings and raps, before also being on “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Selena Gomez, where she also sings and raps. Cardi B incorporating Spanish language and latin beats into her music is fresh and invigorating and makes us want to hear more Spanish pop and rap music!

In the UK scene we have Clean Bandit partnering with Marina and Luis Fonsi to bring forward an iconic track titled “Baby.” This track in a way acts as a return to music for Marina, and in doing so she shines like never before. Her vocals are given the room to truly soar and sparkle here, and Luis Fonsi follows suit with a suave verse that elevates the track to a new level.

Finally, we are completely obsessed with “Mi Gente” by J Balvin and Willy William featuring Beyoncé. This remix of the original adds a new flair that makes it fresh and more fun than ever. Beyoncé’s personality thrives in this remix, and the beat of the song is nothing short of infectious.
