For decades rock bands have been the staples of 70s & 80s music and culture. Rock bands have brought us legends such as “Queen”, “Def Leppard”, “Black Sabbath” and “KISS”. Since being in the Spotlight, it has influenced many other genres of music and has become loved by many countries, cultures and generations.
“Classic rock” seems to have faded into the background of the modern music scene, allowing other genres such as “pop” and “alternative” music to come into the spotlight, we have had new rock bands in the recent years such as “Alabama Shakes” and “The 1975” But a new Rock band has emerged in the last 10 months and has shown that they have the sound and feel of a “classic” rock band, this group is called “Ask Jonesy & Company”
Who Are Ask Jonesy & Company?
Ask Jonesy & Company are an L.A. based Rock Band that consists of 3 insanely talented artists. Troy Romzek (25) is the lead singer and what a voice this guy has, he has shown audiences (most recognisably in their second single “stings”) that he has a smooth, silky voice of an authentic Rock & Blues singer, he has shown his vocal and musical skills in his previous band “The Dirty Shakes”. Troy hasn’t failed to impress us today. Leo Howard (20) is the guitarist, he is a charismatic performer, watching him on his guitar makes the audience feel so involved as it looks like he is having the time of his life, Ricky Ficarelli (24) is the bassist of the group and is most recognisable for his videos on YouTube, although his content is mostly his insane skills as a drummer, in the most recent years and videos we as the audience have seen him grow as a vocalist and that he has the talent to play well more than one instrument.
Although the band has not brought us much music YET.. They have given us some fantastic content, their debut single “Burning Fire” was exactly that! It was the perfect way to introduce the band with this bouncy and catchy tune, with some extremely talented backing singers, saxophone player & drummer, with a visually pleasing and bright music video to go with it, this was truly a fantastic way to introduce AJ&Co. Their second single “Stings” was a more slow and personal ballad, about broken love. The video is shown in black and white, setting the tone for the beautiful song, you can hear the pain in Romzek’s vocals, giving a real and authentic feel. In the last couple of days AJ&Co have released a new single and we must admit is a personal favourite, this song “Morocco By Midnight” is the most visually pleasing video of the 2 previous, you can just tell the amount of time and effort that has gone into this video, it is fun and fast like Burning fire, and it looks like the guys are having such fun, the chemistry between them is truly a joy to behold for the viewer.
