20 Songs Glee Definitely Would Have Covered If It Was Still Airing

It’s no secret that Glee released some stellar covers during its six season tenure, and having ended in 2015, there are a lot of songs the series would have incorporated that they never got to. These are just a handful of the songs I could see Glee having covered.

1. Bodak Yellow – Cardi B

Hands down this would be a Brittany solo. I could definitely see her performing this as she’s walking down the halls of MIT.

2. Kissing Strangers – DNCE feat. Nicki Minaj

Imagine this: The newest batch of New Directions students has decided to hold a kissing booth as a fundraiser. They then sing this to commemorate the occasion.

3. Literally anything from Hamilton

I think it’s safe to say a Hamilton-themed episode would have happened considering how it catapulted into mainstream music. However, even if it didn’t, a single song from the hit musical would most likely have woven its way into the show.

4. Boys – Charli XCX

Charli opens this track stating, “I was busy thinking ’bout boys.” With a high school setting, it wouldn’t be far off to think that someone would be singing this while not paying attention in class.

5. Look What You Made Me Do – Taylor Swift

The students of William McKinley High School are constantly fighting with their show choir rivals. This sassy track would be perfect after getting even with one of their competitors.

6. R.I.P. 2 My Youth – The Neighbourhood

All students leave high school eventually. This would be the perfect anthem for a graduation episode.

7. Dangerous Woman – Ariana Grande

The women of Glee were some of the most powerful characters in the series. Sue Sylvester singing this would be nothing short of iconic.

8. The Greatest Show – Hugh Jackman, Keala Settle, Zac Efron, Zendaya, & The Greatest Showman Ensemble

This musical is so fun, and I could definitely see Rachel Berry and everyone else in New York singing this or any other song from The Greatest Showman.

9. New Rules – Dua Lipa

Glee has never shied away from relationship issues. Rachel Berry would definitely sing this after a breakup.

10. Red Flavor – Red Velvet

Kpop has become increasingly popular the last couple years, and I could see the series having an episode dedicated to it. If so, this is a song I would love to see covered.

11. Meant to Be – Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line

I know I need to stop saying Rachel Berry, but… Imagine Rachel Berry and Jesse St. James performing this duet. It would be phenomenal.

12. Just Like Fire – P!nk

“Just Like Fire” is empowering and just what the New Directions should have in their arsenal for one of their competitions.

13. Praying – Kesha

Kesha stunned us all when she returned to music with this song, and if Glee were to return a cover of this song would no doubt be just as stunning.

14. The Cure – Lady Gaga

Santana singing this to Brittany would be every Britana shipper’s dream.

15. Flame – Tinashe

Tinashe is forever underrated in mainstream music, and so it would be fitting for an underrated member of the New Directions to perform this song to prove themselves.

16. Canyons – ROZES

“Canyons” has a tropical feel to it while also being a love story. A vacation episode, anyone?

17. Reflections – MisterWives

I promise this is the last time Rachel Berry will be mentioned on this list. Lea Michele’s voice soars would fit this song perfectly.

18. Your Song – Rita Ora

This song is poppy and smitten, and it would fit right in with Glee‘s archive of love songs.

19. Liability – Lorde

Everything can’t be poppy and smitten. This song is beautifully heartbreaking and would match perfectly with Glee‘s atmosphere.

20. Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself – Jess Glynne

Everyone makes mistake, especially high school students. This song is a fresh reminder to love yourself, because you can always move past your mistakes.
