Disneyland is undoubtedly one of the most magical places on Earth!
We’re going to explore how you can dress as one of your favourite fictional characters to the theme parks without breaking Disney’s strict “no costumes” rule… and look amazing whilst doing so!
The staff at Disneyland want their guests to have the best time possible, and seeing more than one Elsa or Ariel walking around would definitely confuse young children! This is why Disney has in place a strict policy that prohibits anyone over the age of 14 from wearing costumes into the parks. However, there is a community of people who have found a way around this rule…
“DisneyBounding” is the practise of putting together an outfit with regular, everyday clothes that you may already own that is inspired by a Disney character. DisneyBounders match the colours, fabrics and general shapes of the clothes that a character wears meaning you can have fun with your look without breaking any rules! Plus, it can be an enjoyable quest hunting in charity shops, the high street and online for the perfect pieces and accessories to complete a look.
We’ve collected some amazing looks to give you some ideas to help inspire the creation of your very own DisneyBounds, whether you’re visiting the parks, want to plan in advance for Halloween, or just want a cute picture for your Instagram!
Mickey Mouse
What’s a better way to start than with the main mouse himself? Mickey Mouse has appeared in so many films and has had so many costumes and outfits that the possibilities when putting together an ensemble to replicate this iconic character are almost endless!
Magic Carpet – Aladdin
DisneyBounding is for everyone, and you can be of any character you want… magic carpets included! This perfect combination of colours and patterns is so close to the original design of the Magic Carpet from Aladdin and we love it!
Queen of Hearts – Alice in Wonderland
Don’t lose your head! If you’re feeling a little villainous, give this Queen of Hearts look a try!
Buzz Lightyear – Toy Story
Your look doesn’t have to be too complicated, as proven with this simple but fun Buzz Lightyear DisneyBound.
Gamora and Star Lord – Guardians of the Galaxy
DisneyBounding is more fun with friends, and potentially even better with your significant other! There are plenty of couples and iconic duos throughout the Disney properties for you to embody, just like JamesChats and Lizzy Jones with their fun take on replicating Guardians of The Galaxy characters Gamora and Star Lord.
Ariel – The Little Mermaid
Ariel from The Little Mermaid is one of the most popular Disney princesses and we love this interpretation of her flowing mermaid tail! Especially the starfish headband, which we feel shows particular attention to detail.
Elsa – Frozen 2
This outfit inspired by Elsa’s newest look in Frozen 2 is simply stunning!
Kylo Ren – Star Wars
If you feel the call to the Dark Side of the Force, this Kylo Ren inspired outfit will definitely fit in at Galaxy’s Edge. We particularly like the cute little lightsaber necklace!
Rey – Star Wars
Alternatively, if you’re more of a Jedi, this Rey DisneyBound look looks incredibly comfortable! The earthy tones will make you look like and feel like you’ve just been scavenging on Jakku.
Tinker Bell – Peter Pan
How cute is this outfit inspired by Peter Pan’s mischievous pixie friend? The pompoms on the shoes really complete the look!
